Hamills FW 7 & Pania Shield
Hamills FW 7 kicks off this weekend . With cyclone Gabrielle causing a halt to all proceedings last year and weather cancelling the Shield the previous. It’s great to be able to have it once again this year. Weather looks pretty good and with a stir up Friday and after the weekend – it just screams fish in between , should be an absolute ripper of a weekend.
- Boundaries are Wairoa rivermouth to Blacks Beach bottom carpark.
- Kick off is 5am Saturday with weigh in Sunday 10am Whakaki carpark
- 5 heaviest bags from each club with the total combined weight taking the shield. Pania , Gisborne and Wairoa clubs all competing for the Shield
- SSH will not be weighed for Pania Shield but Pania members can still weigh/or take photos for normal Points for the year
- All other normal club rules, bag limits and fish measurements apply.
- Pania will still have prizes for heaviest Snapper, Gurnard , best other , best Junior & Average Kahawai. And $200 5.5kg+ Guncity Snapper Voucher. These will be handed out the following FW Prizegiving.
- All normal points will apply for those fishing whether they are part of the 5 heaviest bags or not.
Any questions or anything missed just flick us a message.
From all accounts Wairoa and Gisborne are hissing for this weekend so would be great to get plenty of Pania Members fishing to defend the shield. Nikki is bringing the Pania Sheild up with strict instructions to make sure it has a sniff of the sea breeze and fingers crossed comes back home on Sunday. Whispers are, Nikki and Dion are also taking sponsorship to pay for the extra fuel towing the heavy beast of a shield up.
Weather seems to be improving all the time, and Fridays stir up surely brings some bigger fish come kick off Saturday. Has that feeling that those whitewater edges whakaki side could pull out something special early Saturday and with a dropping swell and offshore wind , Opoho and Blucks side could rain Gurnard later on . A bit for everyone whatever you like to target.
All stars align to a great weekend whether its competitively , socially or just a good excuse to get away from the hustle and bustle. Always a good one to catch up with fisherman within Pania,Gisborne & Wairoa clubs.
Good luck to those heading up, keep those beers and fish cold !
Lastly a big thanks to Hamills for sponsoring 2 Field Weekends again this year, awesome stuff!
