Rivers To Ranges Fw 12 and Final 2023/24 Points
Here are the Rivers to Ranges FW 12 results and the final points table for the 2023/24 season. Well done to everyone who weighed some fish across the scales this season. Hawkes Bay fishing has turned it on this season with fantastic consistent catches and its fair share of settled weather. This has shown in some quality weigh ins.
With many punters chasing valuable points for the last FW and it being an Open boundary. Fisherman were scattered along the East Coast from Porongahau all the way up to the very Far North. Great to see Duncan up and about and weighing some fish from the Far North.
Prizes went to:
Average Kahawai – Gary Kemsley
Best Other – Jayden Trevally 1.28kg
Best Junior – Xavier
Heaviest Snapper + Gun City $450 – Karim 4.62kg
Heaviest Gurnard – Pin 1.06 kg
20 Clubbies fished for Fw12 and for those that put in the time there was some bloody good bags of fish weighed in from the usual suspects. It also shows how good local fishing has been with many choosing to head home Saturday and target gurnard on the back doorstep Sunday. Standouts for me was Xavier with 3 kahawai and 3 nice size gurnard around the 0.8kg mark . Also, Dakota who bagged her 5 Kahawai. Great to see.
An awesome season socially and competitively. With Number 1 Open spot coming down to the last FW and Juniors being separated by 1 fish. Also very little difference from 3rd to 9th on the table.

As I write this in June its normally the time to start changing line, stocking up gear and doing all the jobs you were supposed to do but couldn’t because the fishing was too good earlier. This year feels a bit different, with some great catches of Gurnard still around locally, kahawai and the odd snapper and moki still about.
Whispers are that we are in for a settled westerly flow winter. All adds up to some quality fish still about when the conditions are good.
