Weather looks similar to the last one with wind all over the show, but definitely still looks very fishy. The fishing has been red hot in April locally. Gurnard have been regular catches along all beaches with pansized snapper joining the party as well, Trevally have showed up, moki are quiet but are still there, the local haunts near river mouths are chocka with kahawai and I hear whispers of a Pania member shooting a 17kg kingi in Southern Hawkes Bay last week . Variety still abundant in local waters for late April.
$400 for a pin snapper is at juicy odds now, surely its time to dust out those favourite floats and rigs and give it a red-hot crack . Seems to be the only piece of the puzzle missing this year locally is those moocher snappers. Is this the weekend?
Looking at the points table it certainly is heating up in the Open Section with George pushing out to a 1380 point advantage over Kane in 2nd, one feels there is still plenty to go on here. Junior Sections is very tight with a mere 75 points separating Dakota, Xavier and Lokan. Sue K holds a 760 point in the ladies with still the trophy up for grabs with 2 to go. I’m sure within the leaderboard there is some head to head battles going on. Great to see!
Once again thank you to Hamills for their loyal support sponsoring 2 FW’s each year.
Good luck to all those fishing and see you at weigh in
