FW: FW7 & Pania Shield Results
Well done to all the Pania members that made the drive up to Whakaki to help defend the shield. From all accounts it sounded like an enjoyable successful weekend.
The top 5 fisherman for Pania were:
Kane with a bag of 16.955 kg
Pete K with a bag of 14.93kg
Justin with a bag of 11.61 kg
George with a bag of 8.59 kg
Dion with a bag of 8.13 kg
Ahmed with the prize of the Pania Shield photo bomb.
Pania Total – 60.215kg
Gizzy Total – 34.93kg
Wairoa Total – 32.72kg
A great result for Pania, but also an awesome turnout from all 3 clubs!
Total fish were 129 Snapper , 28 Kahawai , 16 Gurnard. 6 SSH were also weighed or videoed from Pania members. Although size was hard to come by a very impressive haul of fish considering the weather was only kind for the Saturday. Great stuff not only from the top 5,s but everyone else that caught some fish . Some strong whispers that Jayden is still on the beach trying to get a fish in the bin.
On a serious note great to have such a good turnout for this event. Awesome!
This weekend was sponsored by Hamills and prize winners that we will sort out at the next weigh in went to:
Justin – Gurnard 0.86
Kane – Best Other Pin SSH 6.25kg
Pete K – Snapper 1.24 kg – also caught a pin Kahawai 2.595kg
Hamish – Average Kahawai 1.65kg
The jackpot pin snapper was not struck once again. After making the mistake of talking up a storm, the sea didn’t produce any big snappers. This goes up to a juicy $250 for the next FW. I have spent the week with severe indigestion after eating my socks. Lock it and Load it will go next FW surely.
Next FW is March 1st, 2nd, 3rd back to normal boundaries. For those needing to scratch the itch in between, fishing is very consistent locally with snappers and gurnards being a common catch on the local Hastings and Napier beaches.
Attached are the updated points and FW been info . Looking at the top of the leaderboard Kane stretches out to a clean 1000 point advantage over George in 2nd place . Will be a very interesting couple of FW’s coming up. A good tussle for 3rd with the “darkhorse” Justin cemented in 3rd with veteran Pete K snapping at his heels and James B within striking distance in 5th.
More info to come closer to the time on the next one.
