Looks like there is a bit of a blow through from the South over the next few days, hopefully this doesn’t upset the bite too much. Currently the fishing locally is great with gurnard and snapper being caught along the whole boundary. Change of light, change of tides seem to have seen the best results. With some quality pin snapper being caught in werewolf hours also. The forecast looks on the money come Friday evening. I watched a 20kg+ kingfish swim past my armpits in Southern Hawkes Bay yesterday evening. Did anyone fish the moonrise lastnight? Absolute magic. A bit of variety out there at the very least.
We are coming to the business end of the season with very little separating 1st and 2nd in the open category and the golden Oldies category is very tight. Should be a belter of a weigh in. March/April always a good time to hunt down some quality & Variety in our local waters.
Thank you to Fishbites and Gary Kemsley for sponsoring this FW, I’m sure their will be more than a few clubbies using their favorite flavors of Fishbites this weekend. For those looking to stock up all our local shops sell them. Craftys, River to ranges, Guncity, Hamills, Last Cast Bait & Tackle, Burnsco all have plenty of options. Seems to be a fair bit of noise around Ghost Shrimp and the new mullet flavour for those looking to mix it up.
Goodluck to everyone having a fish, weather looks good to have a enjoyable weekend at the beach.
