Fishbites field weekend 7
This Friday 5pm kicks off FW 7 kindly sponsored by Fishbites. Weigh in normal time Sunday 12pm . Normal Local Boundaries apply
Prizes for heaviest Snapper, gurnard, Average kahawai, best other and best junior. We have a heap of fishbite product for prizes and these are now sold at quite a few local stores. Hamills, Craftys, Hunting and fishing, their may be others ( I’m not sure) Gary K is the man to talk to about fishbites and what they can catch etc.
The rain events locally have made fishing tougher as of late but there has been some sizeable snapper caught by a few tight lipped hearty locals amongst the dirt. For those that are travelling, forecast and sea look on point. High tide around kick off time and early morning Saturday should be a hit, February is normally the start of better fishing ( Quality and quantity) Fingers crossed she is a belter of a weigh in.
This is another challenge weekend – Variety Challenge – If you can weigh in 3 different species you will gain a bonus 300 points – 4 species 400 points – 5 species 500 points (max bonus points)– Note that you need a minimum of 3 species to qualify for the bonus points. Also this year species that qualify are Gurnard, Snapper, Kahawai, Mackeral, Kingfish, Blue Moki, Trevally, SSH, barracouta, redcod, tarakahi, John Dory and flatfish – Any unweighable fish will not count e.g sharks, skates etc and anything not named above so a hiwihiwi, banded wrasse, 1m+ eel etc will not qualify for bonus points this weekend. Any questions just ask.
Goodluck out there see you Sunday, if not before.
